Airbus ambitious of doubling the orders
World’s largest Aircraft maker, Airbus SAS, is expecting a double of their 131 orders received during the first week of the Farnborough Air Show. According to th
e Chief Operating Officer John Leahy, the global travel situation is rebounding post-recession.
Expected to secure more orders for A380 super jumbo this years, Leahy is confident to blast out that surprises are in waiting. Moreover, the company has already received orders from Emirates Airline Ltd. for 32 additional units of super jumbo.
Typically seating more than 500 passengers, A380 is operated by only five airline companies including Lufthansa AG, Singapore Airlines, Qantas Airways Ltd, and Air France KLM group. According the Leahy, the jet is sold out until 2015.
Air Industry’s biggest showcase, Farnborough Air Show conducted once in two years is expecting participants from 38 different nations previously signed up to attend the show. Once taken over by Airbus back in 2003, Boeing Co., is bringing their 787 model to the show for a first time appearance in Europe. Chicago Based Boeing Co. announced on July 15 that the first deliveries of 787 may delay until early 2011 as testing process time span seem to accumulate.
