Amazon Cloud Users now Use Fedex Instead of the Internet to Ship Data

Amazon has unveiled a ‘new’ technology for its Cloud storage service whereby users can move large amounts of data to the cloud. This technology may be so fast that the majority of users may prefer not using the Internet. The ‘new’ technology is called: Fedex.

For many users who have large amounts of data, uploading it to the Internet could take weeks, especially those uploading terabytes of data. Amazon.com recently announced that clients are now allowed to place their data on storage devices and mail it directly to Amazon, who will take care of the data transfers within its own high-speed network.

According to Amazon the data transfer will cost around $80 per storage device, plus an additional $2.49 for each hour it takes to load the data. The standard Amazon Simple Storage Service fees will also apply.

Storage devices can be shipped to Amazon locations in Seattle, Virginia, Ireland and Dublin.
