An Elevator to the moon can be ready in ten years

The elevator to the moon is an old nineteenth-century romantic dream, a fantasy of science fiction, which could become a reality in a decade thanks to advances in technology. The entrepreneur Michael Laine, a fan of the idea in its day and led a company dedicated to building a highway to the sky but from Earth (Liftport) , ensures that the lunar elevator is feasible, effective and cheap-compared to other spacecraft to land on the Moon, “and we already have the materials available to build it. The thin cable that would connect with our natural satellite would consist of a synthetic polymer called Zylon . Of course, to make it, it would take more research and a good injection of capital.

The elevator is really ambitious, a work of colossal magnitude engineering consisting of a cable with a fixed position on the surface of the moon by which persons or materials can be transported between the surface and lunar orbit.
The biggest problems, according to Laine, are access to the material Zylon and, of course, money. However, building such a mill would be cheaper to ride a space elevator from Earth. An elevator from Earth is a long cable, about 100,000 miles long, anchored by one end on our planet with a counterbalance at the other end, like a large satellite, placed in Earth orbit. The strength of Earth’s rotation would keep it in tension and a swing hanging from a spinning fairground ride. But use it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The elevator is fascinating and excellent! I hope someone builds this thing.

But this web page has a stupid little frame with Tweet and Digg etc. in it that’s blocking the text. I can’t get rid of it. And I’ve adblocked about everthing on the page and it’s still there. VERY ANNOYING!
