Apotheker Defended By HP
On Monday, Hewlett-Packard Co defended new CEO Leo Apotheker from the recent blast of criticism and accused Mark Hurd of lying continuously to the board while still the chief of HP. According to HP there was no proof that former SAG AG owner Apotheker, was involved in misconduct which took place at the German software giant. His appointment disappointed some in the investment community.
That attacking attitude, laid out in a letter to the New York Times by incoming Chairman Ray Lane, could further aggravate the testy relationship of the company with partner and rival Oracle Corp, that hired Hurd as co-president in September after his walk out from HP.
Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle has blasted board of HP for hiring Apotheker. His company and SAP have been troubled in a quarrelsome lawsuit related to TomorroeNow subsidiary of SAP, that company closed in 2008.
