Aristotle described comet centuries ago
Recently it was discovered that Halley’s comet was first time spotted by the ancient Greeks. This finding is based on accounts by ancient authors.
Aristotle, one of the famour author and student of Plato, wrote about the event in his work Meteorology. He mentioned about the Halley’s comet century after it occurred. He mentioned in the work that around the same time the meteorite fell “a comet was visible in the west.”
Aristotle was also the teacher of Alexander the Great. He further wrote that comets, as seen, were a type emission that rose from the Earth towards the sky. He further added that it cannot be part of the celestial vault as the heavens were perfect and orderly at that time.
Ancient writers said that between 446 BC and 467 BC, a large meteorite smacked into northern Greece. They also said that it to be a comet in the sky when the meteorite fell to Earth.
