BMW recall 2010: Problems in braking system
BMW is recalling its vehicles. About 198,000 cars of 2002–10 vehicles are being recalled with V-8 and V-12 engines. BMW is also recalling the Rolls-Royce models. It has a problem in the braking system.
On Thursday, BMW said to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that sometimes there is a small amount of lubricating oil leak from the check valve of the brake vacuum pump. It said, “Over time this could result in the contamination of the brake booster. If this occurred, the power-assist braking could be affected.”
NMW on its part said that the “mechanical braking” would still be able to stop the cars. However, there has been no injuries or accidents.
The recalled models are:
• 2002-8 BMW 745i/Li, 750i/Li, and 760i/Li
• 2007-8 BMW Alpina B7
• 2004-10 BMW 645i and 650i
• 2004-10 BMW 545i and 550i
• 2003–10 Rolls-Royce Phantom
BMW said that this recall is “voluntary”.
