China Blasts A Dam to Release Flood Water

Troops in China have started blasting a dam in western part of the country to prevent further floods. Landslides were caused by torrential rain in Gansu province on Sunday. Rain seems to never stop in China this year and it is getting worst every day.

Sunday’s landslide killed 127 people and 1,300 people remained missing. Water had started to block up behind the landslide dam, which looked dangerous. So, troops had to take the step forward to blast the dam to release some water in order to prevent more floods. People who lived downstream from the dam have been evacuated from the place. 74 year old woman was pulled alive from the much in another part of the county, she remained under the much for 3 to 4 hours but she was alive.

The woman was thirsty, hungry and very weak, but according to the reports, she was doing fine later. Dead people were wrapped in a blanket when they were collected by the rescue workers. Announcement for casualties have not been made by the government yet.
