Dharun Ravi: The Reason For Tyler Clementi’s Suicide
Tyler Clementi’s body discovered from the Hudson river and Dharun Ravi and Molley Wei were charged in the Tyler Clementi suicide.
Tyler Clementi, the youthful student of Rutgers University killed himself by leaping off George Washington Bridge on the night of 22nd September 2010. Tyler Clementi committed suicide because he was captured on camera having sexual intercourse with a man and Dharun Ravi and Molley Wei were the college students who put the concealed camera in Tyler Clementi’s room. Dharun Ravi streamed the sex video of Tyler Clementi live online through placed broadcaster and Tyler ultimately killed himself.

Parents in Asian families do have some influence on their kids behaviour, families of both these kids should be ashamed of themselves for bringing up the kids like these two. I hope both these students serve a long time behind bars.

Come on Guys! Haven’t we seen this stuff in movies multiple times? We all know that there is a huge impact on individuals from Hollywood movies. And it all sounds pretty funny when you watch it on silver screen. It just this time the prank went horribly wrong and an innocent life is lost. We all feel sorry for that. But it doesn’t make much sense wishing these other two kids unwell either.
And all those who are trying to give it a color of hate crime, it is ridiculous. For the record, I personally believe in equal rights for all.
Are they American citizens? shouldn’t they be deported after jail time.

let start of by forgivin this molly n ravi..hope u guys realise your mistakes,to the parents of the tyler, you are part of the reason why your son died, if only you guys are supportive, ur son would have admitted he is a gay and not die as a coward.
I am a physically fit but small gay man. Yet, on four separate occasions, I have physically intervened in domestic disputes between males and females. In three of the cases the male was the aggressor and bigger than me. Still, I did not hesitate to confront and in one case physically charge the bully– who ran away. But I was a fully grown adult and I could confront the bully. How do you confront a bully who has already succeeded by posting to the web? They should be charged and sentenced the full five years. It warrants hate crime status because Ravi cites the “dude” in his post. And he says “its happening again”. These two feel they deserve to be able to bully owning to feelings of superiority, arrogance and entitlement, or they are outright sociopaths. I recommend 5 years of which they’ll serve one, 4 years probation, and 6 months –full time– community service on a suicide prevention hotline. And their parents, if they have a shred of dignity, ought donate $100,000 to a fund at Rutgers to counsel students–gay and straight.
how is what these 2 did any different than the thousands and thousands of “sex scandal tape” video clips posted over the net, over the past like 20 years or so??

if taking note of race and nationality is “an act of ignorance” then why are white, gentile Americans so vilified? Why does the media SCREAM whenever a white person does something politically incorrect to a non-white, but routinely conceals non-white-on-white crime? Can you imagine the reaction if a straight, all-American white guy (non-Hispanic, non-Jewish) had done this to gay person of ANY race? Don’t tell me that race and nationality wouldn’t matter then!
If race and nationality really don’t matter, then why does the IRS grant tax-exempt status to racially-exclusive non-white advocacy groups, but denies the same to whites? Why are non-white scholarship funds sanctioned (i.e. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation & many others) but white gentile scholarships are outlawed? Why have different races created vastly different civilizations? Why did the descendants of white European Protestants put men on the moon while sub-Sahara Africans never developed an alphabet? Is it “ignorance” to ask such questions?
Are foreigners “ignorant” for wanting to immigrate to America instead of to Somalia? Are Mexicans “ignorant” for wanting to get away from their own kind and move to a nation of white, European gentile Protestants? Is it “ignorance” to think that Asian Indians, Arabs, Phillipinos or Aborigines might create a civilization quite different from that created by white? Is it “ignorance” to strive to create a community of like-minded people who share a common value system? Is it “ignorance” to want to expel those who flagrantly violate community mores? I don’t think so. But you seem to vainly imagine yourself so superior and “enlightened” that you can righteously dismiss as “an act of ignorance” the expression of views contrary to your own politically correct attitudes.
As a father I feel for the parents of the boy who committed suicide and the parents of the ones that streamed the video. What an absurd death and what a senseless act of hurting someone by broadcasting something so personal….

These two kids are idiots. Maybe they even view homosexuality as something “funny” rather than “evil” or “sin”. I get the feeling that this dope would have streamed his friend having sex with a female too.
Turning this into a hate crime is not the anwer because I believe they were guilty of ignorance. I don’t believe that they thought for one minute that this young lad would have killed himself over this.
Americans students are treated like children up to the age of 21, so should it be a surprise when they act like kids?
Of course there is the issue of privacy and they should be punished for that. But is jail time really the answer? Surely some heavy hours of community service would be better served. They’re probably already devastated that their actions led to the death of someone they actually liked.

Why is race or nationality even brought up? “Are they American citizens?” “Parents in Asian families?” I’m an Asian-American born and raised in the United States, served in the U.S. military, and I’m deeply offended by those comments. Katie, thanks for speaking out against racism, but I’m not sure whether Charity would be hateful toward law-abiding non-citizens. She would only be a racist if the answer were yes. As you rightly said, this is really about two idiots doing something reprehensible. Clementi is an Italian name. You don’t find me making excuses for those two just because the majority of white racism I have suffered has been from persons of Italian origin.
I am sorry, but on the whole my experience with Italian-Americans has been really negative. They are the most hard-core and malicious Archie Bunker types. Yet I did use that as an excuse to be hard-hearted toward the poor boy and his family.

Look at this Ravi kid…obviously the only way he could find social acceptance is by trying to exploit his roommate, he must have been pretty uncomfortable with his only sexuality to do this to someone, my guess is that Ravi is actually a homosexual himself. From another perspective however one has to wonder how close Ravi and Tyler really were. If they were good friends, which is probably a stretch, but if they were maybe one could look at this incident as a prank gone wrong. I mean how many times have we seen that happen, an innocent joke turned into a tragedy so horrific someone loses a life, actually I should rephrase that, many people lose a life, a friend, a brother, a dad, a mom, a wife, a husband. Whatever the facts are in this case I dont think its a readjustment of laws that is in place, I believe that it is a readjustment of instilled morals and beliefs in schools from a young age that needs to be changed.

You send your kid off to college, and after one month he’s so traumatized that he throws himself off a bridge.
There’s something wrong with this picture, and it runs right through Ravi and Wei.
This is the issue with Americans, which makes this so pathetic.
1. People on this chat box are clearly either uneducated, because most of these posts have the spelling, and grammatical abilities of a third grader.
2. Just because one crime is committed does not mean you deserve to go to jail for the remainder of your life.
We were all kids at one time, and we all made our foolish mistakes. Unfortunately, for these kids, the media was dragging and this story sold millions. If this occurred during a bombing or throughout the midst of the Iraq War, this would never be published. My heart goes out to these aspiring children who got the shortest straw.
Their actions were terrible, anyone with a sensible mind can agree with that, but it’s not only their fault. This child has CLEARLY had issues his entire life, little or no support. Just because these kids pulled the final straw does not mean they should be jailed for life, so shame on those who believe they should.
For those ignorant bastards who think this is either a hate crime, or have brought race into the discussion, I feel bad for the scum you are. Please do America a favor and go back to middle school and learn, you ignorant fools make America the shit hole it has become today.
My heart goes out for all three of these children, may the ignorance of the public be surpassed, and the continuance of their lives.

Dharun deserves a lot more than 5 years in prison. What he did was evil spirited and more than a prank. I hope he gets placed in the cell with Bubba so he can experience gay sex first hand every single day that he is incarcerated. Little did Dharun know that by ridiculing Clementi he would destroy his own life as well.
