Facial recognition technology still not secure enough
Stacey Schlittenhard often considers the facial recognition technology to be a great success and useful for her because as soon as the family photos are uploaded by her on the website Picasa, for example, her friends and the family members are automatically tagged. Due to this a lot of time is saved of organization resulting to the easy sharing of the photos. However, the computers every other day are getting the things flat wrong, for instance, the babies. Schlittenhard said “Babies, That’s the hardest thing as all babies’ kind of look alike — they all have little round faces. If I label one baby as my [2-year-old] son, it will label almost every baby as my son.” Also, she added in another instance, Picasa of the Google considers a lollipop to be her friend. The lady on using facial recognition technology came closer to the fact that it was difficult to make the machine understand the human figure or face; in fact, teaching the computer to distinguish between various faces is a lot tougher. The associate professor of the electrical and the computer engineering in University of Illinois, and also the visiting researcher of Microsoft Research, China, Yi Ma said that at this moment no facial recognition program can be considered reliable and good for the security purposes.
