Family watchdog makes life miserable for sexual lawbreakers

According to the latest reports, the US national Sex offenders Registry has come up with a stern step to put breaks on the illegal sexual harassment that happens with the use of internet. The new site that is developed for this purpose is named Family Watchdog. The best feature about this site that it is free and hence anybody can gain out of it.

Life is going to be difficult for people who try to mess with cyber laws. From the viewpoint of a normal citizen, he is now empowered with a tool that can help him find about the sexual predators in his locality. People who plan to shift to a new area can learn from this locality as to which area is the safest for a family.

Family Watchdog is a private industry, not affiliated with the National Sex Offender registry. Since it is a business, it is full of inaccurate statistics. There have been many reports of inaccuracies in the mapping and tracking software FWD uses. FWD CEO Steve Riddell even promotes potentially dangerous face-to-face encounters with individuals listed on the site.

How about a few facts on sex offenders instead?

Fact #1: Most registrants never e-offend, and since low recidivism rates were occurring long before the current sex offender laws, these laws are not a factor in deterring re-offense.

Fact #2: Up to 95% of sex offense arrests are of people not on the sex offender registry, i.e., first time offenders.

Fact #3: About 93% of sex crimes are committed by someone a person already knows, like a trusted friend or family member.

Fact #4: Treatment and rehabilitation programs are successful in reducing already low recidivism rates even further.

Family Watchmutt is a bad dog. It inflates stats and relies on fear mongering to sell its website. Its nose should be rubbed in its mess. After all, it is a business in a Capitalistic society, and telling you the truth is bad for business.
