Ingrid Betancourt Talks About Kidnapping In New Book
Ingrid Betancourt, who was help hostage in Colombia for more than 6 years, talks about her experience in her new book ‘Even Silence Has an End: My Six Years of Captivity in the Colombian Jungle’.
One thing she says that really got to her more than anything was the fact that they tried to call everyone by a number and not a name.
“For me it was like taking away my oxygen,” says Betancourt about the use of numbers instead of names.
Nobody is quite sure where this will lead her in her professional life. Before she was captured she was a Colombian Presidential candidate and a Senator.
Some speculate that she may run for president again, trying to take a stand against kidnapping and other related crimes.
As a result of all the media attention, she has become a heroine in France and very famous in America. She was even on the Oprah Winfrey show on Wednesday to talk about her experience.
