Labor Day was first paraded on September 5th, 1882 by 10,000 workers in New York City, as it is believed. It was seen that by the year 1893, over 50 percent of the states started observing “Labor Day” either the same day or any other day. In 1984 the Congress passed a bill for establishing a federal holiday to observe Labor Day. Then President Grover Cleveland, soon afterward, signed a bill that designated Labor Day to be celebrated on the first Monday of every September.
