NATO CONVOYS ATTACKED IN PAKISTAN

U.S. supply convoys headed for Afghanistan are attacked driving up the cost war. The Pakistani market which is close to the Afghanistan border is fabled for selling goods looted from U.S. military resupply convoys that pass through. Because Afghanistan is landlocked, more than half of all U.S. supplies pass through Pakistan. This route is hundreds of miles long through tribal’s badlands and is coming under increasing attack. The Taliban knows that by attacking trucks the cost of the war is to be increased.
Even main highways are becoming more dangerous. The largest recent attack came just outside the relatively secured capital Islamabad. There were no U.S. forces and security guards with all the convoys. When militants attacked Pakistani military was escorting through the country’s tribal region. The deaths have gone up to 102. More than 80 vehicles were destroyed, including armored military hardware labeled for the U.S. Afghan surge.
Taliban claims the responsibility of explosion, aimed at the people trying to create anti-Taliban militants. After the attack, the Taliban threaten the drivers and handed out filers. At the port city of Karachi where some U.S. supplies come ashore, containers are stacking up, many because more and more contractors say they won’t touch them.
