Nokia Launches 3 New Smartphone Models To Rival Apple and RIM
Finnish group Nokia presented Tuesday the three new smartphone models, considered esential for the battle with Apples’s iPhone and RIM’s (Research in Motion) Blackberry.
The three smartphones, C6 and C7 priced at 300 euros, and E7 at 495 euros, will start to sell until the end of this year, announced Nokia.
The group controls 40% of the smartphone market and a third of the mobile phones’ one, but lately they lost ground to their rivals on the expensive devices segment, that returns the biggest profit.
“We lost some shining on the luxury segment, but the problem was solved now” Colin Giles, sales department chief, declared at the group’s yearly conference.
“None of these products will be launched with operators in the U.S. … U.S. consumers can buy them but they can’t buy them on a U.S. plan,” Giles said.
Nokia is working hard to develop products for the U.S. market, though — and that means pleasing U.S. carriers.
“We are looking at ways we can bring our products to market. That starts very much with the operator, and we’re looking at ways to improve our operator collaboration,” Giles said.
All the three models have a big touchscreen and use Symbian OS.
