Philadelphia: Largest US City with Casino

Six years after the legalization of gambling by the State Legislature, Philadelphia is all set to become the large U.S city with a casino. Opening of Sugar House Casino which is 10^th casino of Pennsylvania comes after years of protests and delays. Accordign to casino officials thousands of gamblers are expected to attend the first official day of business at the 1600 slot machines and 40 table games of the casino.

“We can’t wait to welcome all the players,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of the casino on the Delaware River waterfront. “The fact that this was a four- to five-year process, it makes it all the more exciting.”

Test runs of the games were conducted by the casino on Monday and Wednesday and the process went to charity. It will be officially open to public around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, after getting final clearance from Gaming Control Board of Pennsylvania. This will make Philadelphia pass Detroit to become the largest city with casino gambling in the nation.
