Rally to Restore Sanity to be held in Washington next month

Jon Stewart astonished audiences last night by announcing on his show that he was holding a “Rally to Restore Sanity” in Washington, DC next month.  With the majority of recent political events leaning toward extremism, the rally is geared toward the more mainstream voter and is an effort to countermand such events hosted by the Tea Party movement in the weeks preceding midterm elections.

The political comedian believes that a small percentage of America’s voters, around 15-20% has monopolized the political arena for too long.  Often labeled a liberal himself, Jon Stewart hopes to draw participants who lean toward the political middle and are exasperated by the new extremist trend.  Although the event is sure to have political ramifications, the rally’s origins cannot be forgotten since comedy and fun will still play large parts in the rallies agenda.  Premade signs have also been promised and will showcase such slogans as: “I Disagree With You, But I’m Pretty Sure You’re Not Hitler.”

Hosted by the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the rally is scheduled to be held on October 30 on the National Mall, one of the most notable locations for such political events.  Along with coverage of the rally, the show has also planned a week of shows called “When Grizzlies Attack: The Daily Show Midterm Teapartganza” as part of their pre-midterm election coverage.
