Randy and Evi Quaid, partners in crime

After the investigation of a homeowner’s claims, Randy and Evi Quaid being charged with burglary by the state of California for squatting in a private residence without permission.  The complaint was filed to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday by the owner of the property.  Upon arrival at the home, deputies found the Quaids who claim to be the rightful owners of property, and have been since the 1990s.

The homeowner’s representative was able to provide the proper documentation proving that the property was legally purchased in 2007, not from the Quaids, but from a third party who they had sold the home to years earlier.  Along with the squatting charges, the couple will also be having pay reparations for an estimated $5000 in damage done to the home.  Evi Quaid is also facing charges for allegedly resisting arrest.

This incident is not the first altercation with the law for the couple.  Last April, Randy and Evi Quaid were arrested for failing to show up in Santa Barbara court for an earlier arrest in September 2009.  The original arrest was rumored to be for leaving a more than $10,000 tab at a hotel in Santa Barbara County before completing all payments.  Although all charges were dropped from Randy, his wife was sentenced to 240 hours of service to the community and 3 years probation.
