Statue of Amelia Earhart will be seen in Statuary Hall
Three weeks ago there was an article published on web regarding the lack of women statues in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol. The article describes how the organization Equal Visibility Everywhere (EVE) was continually working to change this.
Though11 years ago the state of Kansas decided to replace their statue of politician and abolitionist John James Ingalls with a sculpture of Amelia Earhart, but due to lack of funding it never took place. So EVE moves forward to accomplish this by approaching to the state officials to engage the fundraising and speed up the process. This month, Gov. Mark Parkinson signed a formal statue replacement agreement, and Kansas has now entrusted EVE with the task for finishing the statue replacement.
After the accomplishment of the long-awaited project Earhart will be the 10th woman of the 100 statues on display at the Capitol. This will be certainly a big achievement for EVE no doubt.
