Teresa Lewis execution- The first women execution in the US since 2005

When Teresa Lewis was strapped to the execution table in Greenville Correctional Centre she asked the warden whether her step daughter was present or not. And then she requested the warden to pass on her final message to her daughter. Teresa’s final message was to tell Kathy that she loved her and she was extremely sorry for what she did.

Teresa Lewis was sentenced to death for her role in the double shooting in the year 2002. The woman from Pittsylvania County had plotted with her young lover to kill her husband and her step son. The motive was to usurp the insurance money amounting to $250,000. She was administered lethal injection.

Lewis was executed on Thursday at 9.13 pm and she became the first woman in nearly a century to be executed in Virginia. This was the first women execution since 2005 in the United States.

On the night of 30^th October, 2002 Charles J Lewis and Julian were gunned down by Rodney Fuller and Matthew Shallenberger. They both were handed out life imprisonment while Teresa was identified as the mastermind and handed out a death sentence. Shallenberger committed suicide in 2006.
