Toyota Corolla Recall may affect its other models

Toyota Motor Corp. has declared that it will withdraw nearly 1.1 million Corolla and Matrix models starting from 2005 to 2008 to repair specific engine control modules which are known as ECM. This Toyota Corolla recall may affect the performance of its other models. Since the ECM of certain car models are defective that has created a wave of recalls that Toyota and its Lexus Luxury unit have accomplished this year

According to General Motors Corp. the recall will include around 199,163 Pontiac Vibe car models. The Vibe and Matrix versions were manufactured in collaboration with GM and Toyota between April 2004 and January 2008.

Toyota discloses that the two-wheel-drive vehicles with the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine termed as 1ZZ-FE, have a possibility to develop a crack on the ECM’s circuit board or at certain soldered points. Hence Toyota confirms it will change the ECMs on affected cars at no cost to the owner of the vehicle.
